Songs Not Playing on the SMPL RadioUpdated 2 months ago
If songs are not playing correctly on your SMPL radio, even with a USB key inserted, it’s usually due to how the files were added or formatted. Songs may skip, fail to load, or play out of order. Fortunately, a few simple checks can help resolve the issue.
Steps to Help Resolve the Problem
Make Sure All Music Files Are in MP3 Format
The SMPL radio only supports .mp3 files.
To check the file format:
Right-click the file
Select Properties or Get Info
Confirm that the file extension is .mp3
Any file that is not in .mp3 format may cause the player to malfunction or perform poorly.
Do Not Create Folders on the USB Key
Place songs directly onto the USB key, without using folders.
The player does not support playlists or album folders — MP3s must be loaded individually.
Avoid Special Characters in File Names
Only use the following characters in file names:
Letters: a–z, A–Z
Numbers: 0–9
Avoid using spaces, dashes, underscores, or parentheses, as these can interfere with playback.
Ensure the USB Key Is Formatted as FAT32
The SMPL player only recognizes USB drives formatted in FAT32.
How to format your USB key:
- Plug the USB into your computer
- Right-click on the USB icon
- Select "Format"
- Under "File System", choose FAT32
- Start the formatting process
Note: Formatting will erase all content on the USB key. Be sure to back up any files before proceeding.
Load Songs in Small Batches
To identify any problematic files, try loading songs to the USB in small groups of 3–4 at a time. This will help you pinpoint any file that may be causing playback issues.
